The Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, has made an important announcement regarding the expansion of the electronic travel authorization (eTA) program. A total of 13 countries have been added to the list, bringing new opportunities for travelers.

Individuals from these countries who have previously obtained a Canadian visa within the last decade or currently possess a valid non-immigrant visa for the United States can now opt for an eTA instead of a visa when planning air travel to Canada. This positive change comes into effect immediately, enabling eligible travelers from these countries to take advantage of the program’s benefits without delay.

To be eligible for this ETA you need to:

  • Have had an approved Canadian visitor visa in the last 10 years (even if it expired) or;
  • Have a valid US visitor visa

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Argentina
  • Costa Rica
  • Morocco
  • Panama
  • Philippines
  • St. Kitts and Nevis
  • St. Lucia
  • St. Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Seychelles
  • Thailand
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Uruguay

How to apply?

Applying for ETA is very simple and only costs 7$, you will need a valid passport issued from one of the countries eligible for the ETA program and an email address.

  • Fill out the form by answering few questions
  • Fill in your passport information
  • Pay the fee
  • Done.

You should get an email with updates about your application, make sure you check the junk mail as well.
